Our journey so far..

Our journey began in a small room in our house where I would paint, build sculptures, brainstorm ideas for projects and also attend classes online. As I explored new mediums and began understanding the principles behind art and design the list of things made continued to grow. Our little guest room slowly transformed into a creative laboratory in which every storage space was filled with art supplies, tools and artworks. So, with the support and help of my family we decided to create 'Tessellating Colors'.
At 'Tessellating Colors' our aim is to share our creative explorations with you. Currently the medium we are exploring is epoxy resin and Jesmonite (a type of resin). We cast resin using silicone moulds which gives the piece its shape and finish. Then we sand and polish the piece to clean up any irregularities. Finally we seal it using a wax or water based sealant. These steps are common for all pieces. What makes each piece unique is the addition of steps and techniques like mica dusting, painting, adding gemstones and experimenting with pouring techniques and colors.
So join us as we continue to explore the world of creative possibilities.

Material Matters

Epoxy Resin

Our creations often feature resin, a versatile material that allows us to capture intricate details and play with transparency. It is a two-part solution consisting of one part resin and one part hardener. When these two parts are combined, a chemical reaction takes place in which they chemically fuse together to create something that resembles plastic.

Jesmonite

Jesmonite is a material we love for its eco-friendly properties and adaptability. It is a modified gypsum composite and is water based. It comes in two-part kits, a liquid and a powder. When combined, the materials can create an array of colours, textures, and finishes.
